In conjunction with

Grand View XC Ski Challenge

Dec 11-13, 2009 at the Wolverine Trails in Ironwood, MI

Join CXC TDs in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan for an informative symposium and some great early season skiing while helping to officiate and manage an excellent weekend of CXC MW/GLD Junior Olympic Qualifier/Collegiate/Citizen races. This symposium will include hands on race day activities and evening discussions. Lodging and evening meals are with the group (see below). The cost is $85/person, which includes; the new FIS International Competition Rule book with all current updates, rules and organizational CD, meal and beverages Saturday evening, TWO NIGHTS LODGING, lunches and coffee and donuts on race days and Wolverine complimentary trail passes for Friday-Sunday. Seminar package without lodging is $50.

Trails will be groomed and prepared for skiing and course inspection all day Friday. Races will be completed in the early afternoon Saturday and Sunday, leaving plenty of time for training and recreational skiing before dark. The Ironwood area is currently being blessed with winter skiing conditions.

For the last several years CXC has run these informative clinics. TDs get together and compare notes and review rules at the beginning of the season. This clinic has also been well received and a fun way for skiers to get started with XC Officiating and Race Organization. This year we are again including a RACE ORGANIZERS emphasis that will assist citizen and local club race organizers in learning the basics of race management. Thinking about running a Sprint? Or a one-day or continuous Pursuit? Want to host a Junior Olympic Qualifier Race? How do mass start and individual starts differ? We will be discussing the basics of all these current issues. There will be paper hand-outs and a CD including many informative Power Points and documents. The CD will cover all the presented material and is ready to go for subsequent presentations to other organizations and clubs and for TD reference.

All aspects of the new ICR will discussed in detail, as well as results reporting procedures, a new USSA timing protocol and lessons learned from last season.

Principal presenter will be Scott Wilson, FIS International Technical Delegate, Chief of Competition for the CXC FIS SuperTour at Telemark Resort, and Director of Official’s Education for CXC. Round table discussions among all in attendance will complete the seminars.
