A brief update of Adaptive XC skiing at the American Birkebeiner this past weekend. A dozen sit skiers participated in the Birkie 500m and 3km Adaptive events, all finishing on Main Street in front of a packed house of cheering spectators. CXC helped the six 3km skiers get started at noon, and then followed them in with a snowmobile and video photographer.

Several of this year's participants want to do a longer race at the Birkie next year, so we are looking in to that plan. Shortly we expect to fully integrate skiers with all types of disabilities in to the existing 12km, 23km, and 50km events.

CXC had 1000's of observers and probably 300 able bodied skiers take out sit skis from the fleet we had at our on-snow demo (along with all of the ski equipment reps) Thursday and Friday at Telemark Resort. Lots of new folks with an understanding and greater appreciation of skiers with disabilities.
