Midwest Junior Championships

Young skiers (age 15 and under) from across the Midwest race on the 2011 Junior Olympic course at Theodore Wirth Park in Minneapolis. Freestyle sprint on Saturday and a longer classic race on Sunday. Saturday afternoon skiers compete in the Midwest Skiball Championship Tournament and in the SkiX-c course- a short loop with jumps and a slalom course.

Young skiers from across the Midwest race on the 2011 Junior Olympic course at Theodore Wirth Park in Minneapolis March 13-14, 2010

 

Freestyle sprint on Saturday morning and a longer classic race on Sunday morning. Saturday afternoon skiers can also compete in the Midwest Skiball Championship Tournament and race on the SkiX-c course- a short loop with jumps and slalom turns.Sunday's mass start will be seeded according to the results from Saturday's sprint race.

Midwest Championships Sprints

500 meters to 1 kilometer freestyle sprints.  The day starts with qualifying heats.  The first 16 boys and girls in each age class (14-15, 12-13, 10-11, 8-9, 7 and under) advance to the heats of 4. The top 2 in each heat advance to the semi-finals and the top 2 in each semifinals advances to the finals.  Age class awards for top-3 in each age class category except 5 and under. All kids 7 and under receive participation ribbons

Midwest Championships Mass Start Classic

Exciting mass start racing on the Hap & Judy Competition Loops at Theodore Wirth Park.  Six separate mass starts: 12-13 and 14-15 year age categories start together and boys and girls start separately (5 kilometer course).  8-9 and 10-11 year age categories start together and boys and girls start separately (2.5 kilometer course).  All kids 7 and under start together and ski a one kilometer course.  Age class awards for top-3 in each age class category except 7 and under. All kids 7 and under receive participation ribbons.
