By James C. Hamre:

36 days to go until the American Birkebeiner! The American Birkebeiner has been referred to as "the Boston Marathon of the cross-country ski world".  36 days from now, seven Madison area physically disabled adaptive skiers, with the grace of their volunteer helpers and your support, will be aiming for the finish line of what is affectionately known as "the Birkie".

How the adaptive skiers will participate in the Birkie is explained in greater detail in the Birkie Sit-Ski Info Flyer.pdf attached below.  For greater information please visit the American Birkebeiner website.  Before the day is done 10,500 cross-country skiers will be crossing "the Birkie" finish line.  For some in the Madison group, this will be their third-year adaptive skiing in the Birkie sit ski event <> .
A huge amount of thanks goes out to The University of Wisconsin-Madison Staff and Students, Becker Law Office, S.C. , the American Birkebeiner Ski Foundation, and so-many past helpers and volunteers who help make adaptive skiing possible.

We're hoping to add your name to the list of those who help and support the empowerment of these disabled athletes allowing them to live and be an active part of life rather than just survive a disability.
