Saturday, June 23 - Central Cross Country Ski Associaiton and Marshfield Clinic Woodruff
Center will host an Olympic Day event. This is open to the public and
will offer our community the chance to meet CXC Team and CXC Team Head
Coach Igor Badamshin, a Russian Olympian and World Championships medalist who had an athletic career as a cross country skier for the Russian National Team.

“Marshfield Clinic Woodruff Center is participating in a celebration
held around the world to commensurate the anniversary of the first
Olympics,” explained Dr. James Mullen, Physiatrist. “The United States
Olympic Committee (USOC) sanctions specific sites to hold these events,
and we are honored to be one of those sites. Families are encouraged to
join us in this celebration encouraging fitness and health. The event
promotes the Olympic ideals of fair play, perseverance, sportsmanship,
and respect.”
The event will include a 5K fun run/walk, a 3K
walk, a kid’s fun run of approximately 1K and a kid’s obstacle course.
Following this event, families will be able to participate in a variety
of free games and activities for various ages and skill levels.
Activities may include gymnastics, martial arts, soccer, basketball,
paddling, and laser biathlon. Mykos Ress, Licensed Massage Therapist,
will also be on hand to provide massage therapy. All who attend are
asked to sign an Olympic Flag and certificates of participation will be
available.
“We also started a community mural during the
Olympic Day we held last year and encourage individuals to make
additions to that mural at this year’s event,” Dr. Mullen continued.
