NORDIC ROCKS PROGRAM

Bringing Cross-Country Skiing to Schools and Community Organizations

We're excited you discovered us!

The Nordic Rocks program, developed by Central Cross Country Skiing (CXC), offers schools a unique opportunity to introduce students to cross-country skiing. By integrating skiing into physical education, recess, or after-school activities, schools can provide a fun and engaging way for students to stay active during winter.

The distinctive feature of the Nordic Rocks equipment is that it doesn't use ski boots. Instead, we employ custom-developed step-in bindings that can accommodate any snow boot. Additionally, optional telescopic ski poles offer flexibility for individuals of varying heights.

We offer two ski sizes to accommodate different grade levels: 120 cm skis for elementary school students and 160 cm skis for middle and high school students.

Beyond school use, the Nordic Rocks ski equipment is also available to interested clubs, parks, community programs, and organizations.

How It Workis

Participation in the Nordic Rocks program involves:

1.
Procurement of Equipment: Organizations purchase the necessary ski equipment. There are no minimum order requirements. View the price list and available discounts.

2.
Data Sharing: Each year, we reach out to every program location to request updates on enrollment, equipment usage, student demographics, and related information. Typically, each program re-enrolls by completing a simple form in the fall and submits participation numbers at the end of the ski season. In exchange, we provide free equipment repairs and replacements for all program participants.

The cost of fully assembled equipment remains the same whether or not you join the program. However, opting out or skipping annual reporting will result in losing eligibility for free repairs and replacements in the event of future damage.

Program Benefits

Fitness and Fun: Cross-country skiing promotes physical fitness and provides a fun way for students to enjoy the winter season.

Sustainability: By purchasing the equipment, organizations can build a lasting program that benefits students year after year.

Support and Resources: As a component of the program, we offer lesson plans, skill progression guides, and innovative ideas shared by other programs.

Together, we can align with the mission of inspiring a new generation of cross-country skiers through the Nordic Rocks program!

Adaptive Ski Equipment

The Nordic Rocks Program is focused on making cross-country skiing accessible to everyone - including individuals with visual impairments and physical and cognitive disabilities.

Over the past few years, CXC has designed and manufactured sit-skis for individuals who experience limited mobility from spinal cord injuries, limb amputation, or temporary impairments. The sit-ski is composed of a seat attached to skis by a frame, and individuals can either push themselves with adjustable-length poles or use a detachable push handle on the rear of the sled for assisted skiing.

The price of a single sit-ski unit is $500 + shipping. Each outfitted unit comes with a frame and a seat with straps mounted on skis, a pair of adjustable ski poles, and an optional detachable 65"-long push handle for assisted skiing. Our sit-ski frames are adjustable and can be sized for youth and adults.

Additionally, we provide sit-ski units for participation in our loaner program, enabling individuals without their own equipment to engage in outdoor activities and maintain an active lifestyle.

Adaptive Ski Equipment Loaner Program Terms

1. Arrangement of a sit-ski unit pick-up/drop-off with CXC. Shipping is available at the borrower's expense.

2. Commitment to equipment use

3. Sharing of sit ski usage information and feedback with CXC (2-3 photos, video, number of times skied, quotes, comments)

4. Return or purchase equipment at the end of the season

5. Option of short or long-term rental

Please let us know if your students or community members would benefit from a sit-ski!
