2020 Great Lakes Junior National Team Named

2 MAR 2020 Central Cross Country Skiing, the regional governing organization for cross country skiing in the 10 state Central Region of the United States, has named a wide range of teams for upcoming championship events. The teams were selected through a series of qualifying events over the past three months including the CXC Cup and CXC Junior Cup. Teams were selected within two separate divisions of Central Region.

The final Junior National Qualification races for the Great Lakes Division were held last weekend in conjunction with the CCSA Conference Races in Houghton, MI.

Congratulations to everyone who competed over the series of 8 races at 4 events during the 2019-20 season! After another great weekend of racing, many athletes secured their position on one of Great Lakes' post-season championship teams.

2020 Great Lakes Junior National Trip Information

Those athletes meeting the qualification standards for the Great Lakes Junior National team can now register and make payment for the trip. Full trip details, required forms and online payment have been posted.

Athletes have until February 24 to accept or decline their roster spot on the Junior Nationals team. In the case of declines, spots will be offered to other qualified athletes, so please do not delay your decision whichever you choose.

Team race suits and jackets must be ordered immediately through the Podiumwear store front. See the team information packet for details how to access and log into the store. Suit orders are due no later than 12:00 midnight February 18.

The Great Lakes Division Junior Leadership has completed its application process and developed coaching staffs for their three March Junior Trips.

Each coach on these staffs is a volunteer who is excited to be part of helping the junior athletes to have a great experience at the March Junior Trip each athlete may qualify for.

Joint Application Process Now Open For Junior National, CXC U18 and NENSA U16 Trips Coaching Positions

The Junior Trip Leadership Committee is opening the application process for the following trips:

2020 Junior National Championships are taking place at Auburn Ski Club in Truckee/Donner Summit, CA. This year's dates are March 7th through March 14th, 2020.

The 202 CXC U18 Trip will go to the Eastern High School Championships at Gore Mountain, NY. This year's dates are March 13th through March 15th, 2020.

2020 NENSA U16 Championships are taking place at Mountain Top Inn and Resort in Chittenden, VT. This year's dates are March 6th through March 8th, 2020.

NOTE: selected applicants volunteer their time to coach the best junior racers in the Central Region during these national championship events, and should expect extra travel days at the beginning and the end of each trip. Applicants will be applying for a staff position on any trip (Junior Nationals, U18, NENSA). The application will have an area to specify if you have special circumstances/skills to offer (ex: wax technician) or if you have a trip preference.
