Cross Country Coach Membership
Coaches are the backbone of the development pipeline in Central Cross Country Skiing and U.S. Ski & Snowboard, offering guidance and support to athletes within club programs. As a coach, you play a crucial role in nurturing and leading athletes along their journey.
Background Screening Compliance
To ensure a SafeSport environment within clubs, every Coach member is subject to regular background screening. U.S. Ski & Snowboard member services will send detailed instructions for the background screening process via email. It is essential to promptly register for the screening upon receiving the instructions. Failure to complete the required background screening will result in Coach members being placed on inactive status until the screening is successfully finished.
Coaches Certification and Prerequisites
- Non-certified coaches must take an online Coaching Fundamentals Course on important coaching guidelines.
- Fast Start Coaching Course Refresher is required for anyone who has not received a Level 100 certification or higher after 3 seasons. The course incurs an extra $10 fee added on during online registration.

- Be a Level 100 or Level 200 Certified Coach (with current CPR & First Aid certifications, completed background check and Safe Sport)
- Have current 2023-24 U.S. Ski & Snowboard Coach Membership
- Be affiliated with a club with current CXC Club Membership or U.S. Ski & Snowboard Club Membership for 2023-24 season.
To receive a code, please provide:
- Proof of your current certification status (can be a copy or a screenshot of the U.S. Ski & Snowboard membership record stating the status)
- Proof of your Club's membership with CXC or U.S. Ski & Snowboard (can be a copy or a screenshot of membership payment receipt from your Club's administrator)

Cross Country Club Volunteer Membership
A Club Volunteer refers to an individual involved at the club level, entrusted with a position of authority or regular contact with athletes. Volunteers may assume entry-level coaching responsibilities and instruction or assist clubs and event organizers in various capacities.Background Screening Compliance

American Birkebeiner Entries
Certified coaches from your Club who meet the coach certification requirements are eligible for complimentary entries to the American Birkebeiner race.
CXC Academy
Being a CXC Club grants you complimentary access to CXC Academy, a platform that offers professional training plans for cross country skiers of all ages and skill levels. To avail this service, simply send an email to membership@cxcskiing.org requesting access.
Use of CXC Center of Excellence High-Performance Opportunities
CXC member clubs have the privilege of scheduling group testing sessions for their athletes at the Center of Excellence, completely free of charge. Athletes will have the opportunity to engage in various assessments, including VO2 Max Fitness testing, Rollerski Treadmill Technique Analysis, and Ski Specific Strength Testing. This service enables athletes to gain a comprehensive understanding of their current fitness levels and ski performance, empowering them to shape their upcoming training plans.
Please note that the Club is responsible for providing its own volunteer/parent/coaching staff assistants to coordinate and conduct the testing. CXC will provide guidance and training on the usage of testing and Rollerski Treadmill equipment.

Club Visit by Central Cross Country Skiing Coach or Club Development Consultant
CXC Clubs have the opportunity to arrange visits from a coach or club development consultant who can cover key club development topics with club coaches and board officers. These topics include technique training for athletes, technique workshops for coaches, governance, fundraising, long-term athlete development models, and media and communication. The purpose of these visits is to provide valuable insights and guidance on various aspects of club development to support the growth and success of the club.
